SMA Solar Technology AG – Press Release SMA Secures Operations Contract for UK PV Power Plant Niestetal, July 28, 2015 – SMA Solar Technology AG (SMA) has commenced full technical operational management of the Glebe/Odell Solar Farm near Wellingborough in the UK on behalf of bejulo GmbH. The plant consists of two sections with a cumulated output of almost 34 megawatts. SMA delivered 29 Sunny Central inverters for the project that commenced operation in March 2015 following a four month construction period, which saw the close cooperation of SMA and bejulo GmbH. The O&M contract includes continuous remote monitoring, regular maintenance, repairs and module cleaning. This is a tailored package offered by SMA to suit bejulo’s individual needs, and reinforces SMA’s reputation as a complete service provider. “We are delighted to be looking after a major PV project in the United Kingdom, and thereby continuing to expand SMA’s O&M services in Europe,” said Bernd Lamskemper, Executive Vice President SMA Service. “Thanks to its many years of service experience and our local presence, SMA has the necessary know-how to supervise the system operations reliably and to quickly identify and remedy any irregularities. As a result, we can ensure that the PV system is functioning perfectly at all times and generating the best possible yield.” Bernd Schappert, General Manager of bejulo GmbH, is certain that he has gained a reliable and trustworthy partner with SMA supporting the PV system: “We have been collaborating successfully with SMA for several years. As an inverter manufacturer and system supplier for this large-scale PV power plant, the project is in the best hands with SMA.” The Glebe/Odell Solar Farm was commissioned during a particularly busy period for SMA Solar UK at the beginning of 2015, when there was significant pressure to meet the UK’s March ROC (Renewable Obligation Certificate) deadline. SMA Solar UK estimates to have reached at least 35% market share in the UK, after successfully commissioning an impressive number of UK PV power plants, with support from highly trained professionals across SMA’s global service network.
