SMA Solar Technology AG — Press Release Sunny Design Pro from SMA Enables System Planning Across All Energy Sectors Niestetal, July 16, 2018 — System planners can now for the first time ever plan and simulate energy systems across all sectors. The new version of the Sunny Design Pro system design software, which SMA Solar Technology AG (SMA) unveiled at Intersolar Europe in Munich, takes into account not only electrical power generators and loads but also battery storage systems and thermal components such as CHP plants and heat pumps. Sunny Design Pro instantly creates a comprehensive system overview containing all of the energy-related and economical key figures. System planners, solar power professionals and energy consultants can provide their customers with a sound decision-making basis and give valid forecasts of the planned energy system’s efficiency. “With Sunny Design Pro, SMA is the first manufacturer to develop software for efficient integrated energy planning especially in commercial applications,” said Dr. Thomas Straub, Senior Product Manager at SMA, who is responsible for the new Sunny Design Pro. “On the one hand, the strength of this program is that it provides a comprehensive overview of the electrical and thermal aspects of the energy systems and prepares the results according to the needs of customers. On the other hand, the energy flows can be optimized through the integrated functions of our energy management platform ennexOS. This helps operators make considerable cost savings.” Comprehensive documentation for complete systems The individual sectors of an energy system always had to be planned and calculated separately. It took considerable time and effort to merge the individual results. Now, for the first time ever, Sunny Design Pro maps the entire system and factors in all energy generators and loads. System planners receive comprehensive project documentation of the planned overall system and can therefore offer their customers a sound decision-making basis. In addition to planning energy systems with integrated energy, system planners can use the new Sunny Design Pro to design grid-connected, off-grid and PV hybrid systems, store and manage projects and create their own modules, locations and load profiles. Sunny Design Pro also allows you to flexibly manage purchasing and feed-in tariffs, create consumption and load profile analyses and simulate the use of battery storage systems, including in peak load shaving applications. For more information on Sunny Design Pro see the SMA website and the SMA Sunny blog.
