SMA’s Sunny Central CP Inverters Upgraded with Better Performance, New Power Classes Higher Energy Yields, Extensive Grid Management to Improve Utility-Scale Solution ROCKLIN, Calif., October 24, 2012—SMA has introduced an upgraded, re-branded version of its successful Sunny Central CP utility-scale solar inverter series. The new Sunny Central CP XT series features two new power classes and an extended minimum DC voltage range. The upgraded inverter line expands upon the technology of the award-winning Sunny Central inverter line and now features seven models ranging from 500–900 kVA. Similar to SMA’s new Sunny Central CP-US product line, the Sunny Central CP XT will offer 10 percent over nameplate output capacity at ambient temperatures up to 25 C, providing customers with a megawatt class inverter. The Sunny Central CP XT is equipped with a robust outdoor enclosure and SMA’s innovative OptiCool™ temperature management system, enabling lasting, reliable performance even in extreme temperatures. “Our customers have come to rely on SMA’s central inverters as a trusted, essential solution for utility-scale PV systems,” said Henry Dziuba, president and general manager of SMA America and president of SMA Canada. “The Sunny Central CP XT will once again take utility-scale performance to the next level while lowering the levelized cost of PV-generated energy.” The Sunny Central CP XT inverters maximize energy production while reducing costs for utility-scale PV systems and feature extensive grid management and wide voltage ranges for increased flexibility. With SMA’s signature efficiency and performance, the Sunny Central CP XT features safe, simple installation. It can be combined flexibly, and numerous product features result in reduced system costs with better performance. The entire CP XT line can be integrated with SMA’s Power Plant Controller, and the 500CP XT through 800 CP XT can be integrated with SMA’s MV Power Platform. The MV Power Platform is SMA’s turnkey utility-scale solution, which includes two Sunny Central inverters, a medium-voltage transformer, optional DC or AC/DC disconnect cabinets and a control and supply panel for power distribution to local loads and (optionally) field tracker motors. About SMA The SMA Group generated sales of €1.7 billion in 2011 and is the global market leader for solar inverters, a key component of all PV plants. It is headquartered in Niestetal, near Kassel, Germany, and is represented in 21 countries on six continents. The Group employs more than 5,500 people worldwide, plus a number of temporary employees that varies on a seasonal basis. SMA’s broad product portfolio includes a compatible inverter for every type of module on the market and for all PV plant sizes.
